Description:

There are nearly 3800 known species of lizards ranging across all continents except Antarctica as well as most oceanic island chains. Lizards typically have limbs and external ears which distinguishes them from snakes that lack both these characteristics. Vision, including colour vision, is particularly well developed in most lizards, and most communicate with body language or bright colours on their bodies as well as with pheromones.

=> Lizard populations on five continents are becoming extinct because of rising global temperatures, and if climate change continues unabated, scientist predict that at least 6 percent of the world's lizard species will disappear in the next 40 years and up to 20 percent in the next 70 years. So far, 4 percent of lizard populations have vanished in the past 35 years
